r. Drv Bettarnite Powder
T'he dry benuatite povvder ape used in the backtill mix design was ~V}°o-[3en
HydcoGel. Western Ctay dry puwder benumi[e was used for additional bentonite
slurry testing.
I F. $entonite Slurry
Bentnttite slurry used for the backtill mix was crested wi[h the dry bemm~ite powder
and the site water treated with sxla ash. Bentonite slurry was made wi[h untreated
water but was no[ used in the backtill mix due to separation and low viscosity. Tsble
IV sutrunarizes results of labora[nry tests conducted on several batches of slurry using
different bentonite and different treatments.
G. Portland Cement
t Type ItIl Portland Cement manufactured by QUickcrete was used hi the baekfill nux
design.
2.03 Estimated Amounts of Site i4taterials
To aid the eontractar in understanding the amount of different types of material they
can expect to encounter during excavation along the slurry wall alignmen[, the table
below presents estimates of square footage of each geologic unit encountered alone
the alignment. 'These geologic units are described in the Geotechnical iJata Report
(GDR).
