•
Exhibit D Reclamation Plan
A reclamation plan for this mine has been prepared by the Natural Resources Conservation Service. This
plan Specses seeding, timing, etc. Additional information specific to this mining and reclamation
operation is shown on the reclamation Map.
The mining progression is planned to allow reclamation of slopes as the quarry enlarges. The earthwork
to achieve the reclamation will involve construction of sliver fills along the walls. Shale waste rock will
be used to fill out the tce of the slope. The stored or recently stripped topsoil will be spread over the
graded slopes and this area seeded. The estimated cost per acre is as follows
1 n
Sliver fills using shale waste 1500 cubic yards per acre L $1.00 per c.y. _ $1500/acre . R 3 = /1
Topsoil application 900 cubic yards per acre C $3.00 per c.y. = 52700/acre , S~ _ ~,6
Seeding and fertilizer Per SCS Recommendations $1000 per acre$1000/ acre
Total reclamation wst per acre $5700. At anv given time there should be no more than 3 acres of area
waiting to be reclaimed. The maximum estimated final reclamation cost is
$5700/acre x 3 acres = $17,100
The final reclamation of the site will return it to range land. Slopes gill graded and seeded. A berm will
be left in between the artoyo and the quarry site. Permanent stormwater catchment on the reclaimed
quarry floor will help retain moisture and collect sediment. The are no plans to remove the access road at
the completion, since it provides a less environmental damage than the route up the artoyo.
