2.6 Response to Apparent Completeness Review
• A detailed stratigraphy can be found on bclribit F-0-27. of this
submi$sion. Also, elevations of the holes used for the cross
sections can be found at the bottom of bdribit F-9-21,
7lrere are no continuous, mappable aquifers known to Northern, in
the cormron use of the term, within or above the strata to be mined.
?Sre only mappable or traceable aquifer within the permit area
above the Trout Creek Sandstone is the alluvial aquifer. The
limited areal extent of alluvium that may be capable of trans-
mitting and storing water is shrnvn in v.V, Fbchibit G-7.
The water bearing strata being rronitored as part of the hydrology
monitoring program are the coal seams to be mined and the zones
immediately above and below these coal seams. The reviewer
should keep in mind that the entire stratigraphic section is
eater-bearing even though Borne units give up their water more
grudgingly than others. As in the case of wells NNG-21 and 21C
(v.V, p~. G43, C~-44), if enough material is open to a well near
the s5~clinal axis flaying artesian water in usable quantities
can be obtained. Havever, its utility for large scale irrigation
on the soils of the area is suspect.
F-20a
