•
•
•
Mine
4.5.1 Oil Inventory
2004 SPCC
There is no separate inventory for the Fuel Island because it is directly connected to the Lube
Building tanks identified in section 4.4 above.
4.5.2 Containment and Diversionary Structures
Spills in and azound the Fuel Island area would report to the concrete slab, the parking lot and/or
the gravel access azea. In the unlikely event of a major spill, the oil would be routed through the
existing site drainage into the industrial water pond where the oil would be trapped by a sorbent
boom at the inlet end. The detention time and surface area on the inlet side of the confinement
boom allow the petroleum effluent to accumulate behind the boom, where it can be pumped off
and disposed of properly.
4.5.3 Conformance with Applicable Requirements
Currently the spill containment set-up appeazs to be in good condition during the site inspection
of May 6, 2004. Atypical fueling operation was observed during the site inspection and found
to be according to posted procedures. The overall housekeeping effort was observed to be good.
Applicable state guidelines are assumed to be the same as the Federal Regulations at 40 CFR
Part 112, and therefore, the facility is in conformance with applicable requirements.
4.6 WASTE ACCUMULATION AREA
This site is a 70 fr x 70 ft x 8 inch concrete pad enclosed by a concrete stem wall. Used
antifreeze and other wastes in 55 gallon drums (labeled #19) aze stored within the facility. The
Waste Accumulation Area is surrounded by a locked gate and chain link fence where appropriate
signs are posted. See Figure 2 for the location of the Waste Accumulation Area.
4.6.1 Oil Inventory
Small quantities of waste aze stored in 55 gallon drums and include used gear oil, antifreeze,
used grease, and used oil. Also stored here in a 15,000 gallon steel tank is waste antifreeze.
4.6.2 Containment and Diversionary Structures
This site is a 70 fr x 70 fr x 8 inch concrete pad enclosed by a concrete stem wall, providing
approximately 24,000 gallons of secondary containment, which is more than adequate to hold the
volume of the lazgest tank plus an allowance for precipitation. In the unlikely event of a breach
