<br /> <br />Engineer. Excavation operations shall be conducted so that material <br />outside of the limits of slopes will not be disturbed. Prior to begin- <br />ning grading operations in any area, all necessary clearing and grubbing <br />in that area shall have bean performed in accordance with Section 201 - <br />Clearing and Grubbing. <br />The Contractor shall notify the Engineer in sufficient time before begin- <br />ning excavation that the necessary cross sections may be taken. The <br />Contractor shall not excavate beyond the dimensions and elevations es- <br />tablished, and material shall not be removed. prior to the staking and <br />cross-sectioning of the site. <br />203.07 Excavation <br />(a) Rock - Unless otherwise specified, rock shall be excavated <br />to a minimum depth of 6 inches below subgrade within Che limits <br />of construction, and the excavation backfilled with material de- <br />signated on the plans or approved. <br />(b) Unclassified - All excess or unsuitable excavated material, <br />including rock and boulders, that cannot be used in embankments <br />shall be placed at a location and in a manner approved by the <br />Owner. <br />(c} Borrow - Borrow material should not be placed until after <br />the dam excavation has been placed in the fill. If L'he Con- <br />tractor places more borrow than is required and thereby causes a " <br />waste of dam excavation, the amount of such waste will be <br />deducted from the borrow volume. All borrow areas s1ia11 be <br />bladed and left in such shape as to permit accurate measurements <br />after excavating has been completed. The finished borrow areas <br />shall be approximately true to line and grade established or <br />specified. When necessary to remove fencing, the fencing shall <br />be replaced in as good cottdition as it was originally. The <br />Contractor shall be responsible For the confinement of live- <br />stock when a protion of the fence is removed. <br />
