We are happy <br />to provide this information to you. If we may be of further ass- <br />istance please feel free to contact us. <br />The area proposed for excavation has one major soil and inclusions <br />of a small amount of steep soil on the East Boundary. Descriptions <br />of the soils and their characteristics can be found on the attached <br />sheets. <br />The climate Precipitation averages 20-25" per year. Over one- <br />half comes as snow. Growing season is from May 15 to July 15. <br />The Topography Elevation is approximately 6700'. The slopes <br />range from 9-15~. <br />The vegetation Ttlere are two distinct plant communities on the <br />proposed excavation area. The area north of the fence is non- <br />irrigation pasture. Intermediate wheatgrass, along with timothy <br />and smooth bromegrass make up 85% of the production by dry weight. <br />Other plants found in this pasture are big sagebrush, Kentucky <br />Bluegrass, dandelion, western yarrow, and a few annual weeds. <br />The ground cover was estimated to be 1800 pounds of air dry <br />forage per acre. The area south of the fence is mostly in an <br />old excavation. The plants are mostly weeds such as Canada <br />thistle, Russian Thislte, cheatgrass, tarweed, prostrate knot- <br />weed, and dandelion. There is some western wheatgrass, big sagebrush <br />rabbitbrush, and a very small amount of sueetclover. The ground <br />cover density is about 10% with production being about 200 pounds <br />per acre.
