.. -~ _
ENVIRONMENT, INC. •
JULY 6, 1998
FADE 2
We have confined our truck loading to the stone yard area as
stated in the permit since receiving your inspection report. We
will clarify this in detail when preparing the Technical Revi-
sion. Dust control measures will be discussed in the Technical
Revision. While not all dust can be stopped, we will prepare a
plan that will limit it as much as possible. I have called the
Dena Stutzman with Colorado Department of Health for information
about permitting gravel mines. She said that unless 70,000 tons
of material was mined per year a air pollution control permit was
not needed. This mine produces less than 70,000 tons so we are
incompliance with their regulations.
I have the following comments regarding the final inspection
point, damage to Siloam Road due to trucks. We concur with your
assessment when discussing the enforcement agency. i disagree
with your assessment that Siloam Stone is responsible for all the
damage to Siloam Road. It should also be pointed out that Siloam
Road is used by Pueblo County as a major haul route between a
mine to the north and the Beulah area to our south. By major I
mean that it is not unusual for them to run a twenty to thirty
gravel trucks a day over this road. Some of the noted damage may
also be attributed to local traffic as well.
If you have any questions please call me at (303) 423-7297.
Sincerely,
Environment, inc
~~
Stevan L.
