• is calcareous sandstone alluvium, Slopes are nearly level to
gently sloping ranging from 0 to 6 percent.
Type location: 775 feet west, 1,350 feet south of the north-
east corner Section 11, T8N, R78W.
Manburn fine sandy loam, 0 to 6 percent slopes (3)
Manburn soils are shallow and are found on nearly level to
gently sloping uplands. These soils have developed residually
over calcareous, fine-textured sandstone. Small areas of Blackhall
and Satanka soils were included in mapping.
The Manburn series is a member of the loamy, mixed, shallow
family of Borollic Haplargids. Typically, Manburn soils have pale
brown, sandy loam A horizons with granular sturcture; brown, sandy
clay loam B horizons with subangular blocky sturcture; and brown,
sandy clay loam C horizons.
C~
J
The Manburn series are shallow soils developed residually on
relatively level uplands over calcareous sandstones and shales.
They are well-drained with medium runoff and moderate permeability
Typical pedon, Manburn very fine sandy loam:
Al (0-2") - Pale brown (lOYR 6/3) very fine sandy loam, brown
(lOYR 6/3) moist; moderate fine to medium granular structure;
soft, very friable, nonsticky and nonplastic; common fine
and medium roots; neutral (pH 6.9); clear smooth boundary.
B2t (2-8") - Yellowish brown (lOYR 5/4) sandy clay loam, dark
yellowish brown (lOYR 4/9) moist; strong fine to medium
angular blocky structure; hard, friable, sticky and plastic;
common fine and medium roots; many thin clay films on
faces of peds; moderately alkaline (pH 7.9); clear smooth
boundary.
Cca (8-14") - Yellowish brown (lOYR 5/4) sandy clay loam, dark
yellowish brown (lOYR 5/4) moist; weak fine to medium
L J
-6-
