Cca (36-52") - Very pale brown (lOYR 7/3) fine sandy loam, pale <br />brown (lOYR 6/3) moist; massive; soft, very friable; <br />slightly sticky and slightly plastic; few fine and medium <br />roots; calcareous; violently effervescent; common fine <br />irregular masses, seams and threads of visible secondary <br />calcium carbonate; moderately alkaline (pH 7.9). <br />Range in characteristics: Depth to the base of the argillic <br />horizon is 12 to 40 inches. Depth to visible secondary calcium <br />carbonate accumulation is 12 to 20 inches. The texture of the A <br />horizons are sandy loam to fine sandy loam. The B horizons have <br />textures of sandy loam the sandy clay loam. The control section <br />has 35 percent or more fine sand or coarser material. Depth to <br />bedrock is greater than 40 inches. <br />Setting: The Ryan Park series are deep soils developing on <br />gently to moderately sloping alluvial fans. Parent material is <br />calcareous sandstone alluvium. Slopes are 3 to 10 percent. <br />Type Location: 250 feet west, 1,350 feet south of the north- <br />. east corner Section 10, TBN, R78W. <br />Forelle very fine sandy loam, 0 to 6 percent slopes (2) <br />The Forelle series are deep, nearly level to gently sloping <br />soils found on alluvial fans and along major drainages. Small <br />inclusions of other deep soils, Ryan Park sandy loams, were included <br />in mapping. <br />The Forelle series is a member of the fine-loamy, mixed family <br />of Borollic Haplargids. Forelle soils have brown, very friable, <br />granular, very fine sandy loam A horizons; brown very fine sandy <br />loam B2t horizons having prismatic and subangular blocky structure; <br />and light yellowish brown, loamy, massive C horizons with visible <br />secondary calcium carbonate accumulations. <br />• <br />-4- <br />
