reclamation methods and not for strict statistical anal y::i s, this "allocation" method of •
sample point selection is practical. A sampling point is that location in the study area
where the production, cover and woody plant density measurements for a sample are
collected.
Reference Area Monitoring. the reference areas will be periodically monitored using
similar methods, parameters, and intensities as specified under Revegetation Monitoring.
Annual Reporting
The Annual Reclamation Report will be submitted by March 30 of each year and will report
those items required by 2.04.13(1). Additionally, the following information will be
included:
1. Rnnual herbicide applications and weed and pest control measures
2. Alfalfa control monitoring/cadge Pasture grazing (Appendix 13-4)
3. Annual topsoil balance reporting
4. Revegetation monitoring
5. Wildlife monitoring (when conducted) •
6. Results of sediment pond surveys (when conducted)
7. As-built designs for stock tanks constructed during the reporting year
Testing for Successful Reclamation
the following discussion details the applicable success criteria, methods [o be used in
measurement of parameters, comparisons to be made between reclaimed and undisturbed areas,
and statistical tests to be performed.
Use of Reference Areas
Baseline vegetation studies conducted in 1979 and 1980 identified two primary vegetation
types: upland sagebrush and mixed brush/aspen. The aspen type uas considered a subtype
of the mixed brush and contained similar coders tory vegetation. See Tab 10, Vegetation
Baseline Report, for a more detailed discussion and Exhibit 10-1 for vegetation mapping
and reference area locations.
Reference areas reflecting [he above two vegetation types were established during baseline
studies.
