<br /> <br />10. All new roads and trails shall be constructed and maintained in <br />such a manner ato to control and minimize channeling or other <br />erosion. Roods and trails shall be constructed only at locations <br />approved in advance by the Regional Mining Supervisor after <br />consultation xii:h the District Manager. <br />11. Off-road vehicular traffic in connection with lease operations, <br />authorized construction activities or otherwise shall be permitted <br />only when and aa: authorized in advance by the Regional Mining <br />Supervisor nftei• consultation with the District Manager, or in <br />emergency situai;ions. <br />12. All operations amst be conducted so as not to adversely change the <br />character or cause pollution of streams, lakes, ponds, xnterholes, <br />seeps and marshes or cause damage to fish and wildlife resources. <br />Contaminants or pollutants shall be controlled end not be allowed <br />to enter stream:;, springs, stock waters or ground waters. No <br />water shall be used from stock ponds or springs without the <br />written consent of the owner. <br />13• The clearing of timber, stumps and snags shall be kept to n <br />minimum, and dues care shall be used to avoid scarring or removal <br />• of ground vegete.tive cover in areas not involved in the mining <br />operations. <br />14. All disturbed areas must be returned as nearly ns practicable to <br />their original condition and as soon as practicable, as may be <br />more specifically provided for in arty exploration or mining plan <br />approved in accordance with secs. 5(c) and (d) of the lease and <br />the applicable regulations. <br />15• Due to the importance of the winter deer range and the deer <br />migration route to crucial winter range, habitat disturbance <br />should be kept t~o as small an area as possible. Pinon Juniper <br />stands that are necessary for wildlife cover should be avoided. <br />Stockpiling of waste material shall be in as small an area as <br />possible. <br />16. When American antiquities or other objects of historic or scientific <br />interest including but not limited to historic or prehistoric ruins, <br />vertebrate fossils, or artifacts are discovered in the course of <br />operations or activities conducted under this lease, the item(s) <br />or condition(s) will be left intact and iamiediately brought to the <br />attention of the District Idanager through the Regional Mining <br />Supervisor. <br />2 <br />t <br />
