Box 841
Canon City, Co 81215
Dear Ms. Bellantoni,
This letter is in response to your application for mining permit for Section 12 of
Township 19s, Range 70w in Fremont County.
Upon review of the application and site visit by myself and District Wildlife
Manager, Eric Harper, it is the opinion of the Division of Wildlife and it's staff that
impact to wildlife and wildlife habitat will be found from the actions proposed due to the
site location of this project. This site is closely related to an area of high use for certain
species of wildlife, mainly bighorn sheep.
The Division of Wildlife would like to be involved as much as possible to mitigate
impacts to this critical habitat. We would like to offer suggestions in reclaiming the area
to suitable conditions to promote a viable herd of Bighorn Sheep in the area, and offer
assistance in your project plans which would exercise as little impact as possible to the
area.
Thank you for the opportunity to comment on this issue. If you have any
questions, please feel free to reach officer Harper or myself at 719-561 X909.
Sin eretly~ ~~ ~ ~ ~/ r,
evin Kaczmar ~,
Habitat Biologist
Area 11
DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES, Greg E.
