which runs due west and then south westerly to intersect with Coal
Creek. The inspection shows evidence that the drainage is adequately
sized for the up-slope area and no evidence of erosion is apparent. As
such, no additional ditch, as was previously shown in Exhibit F attached
with the WAI permit application, is needed.
16. P.Lease consider establishing drainages down the slopes at the southern
p:it area rather than attempting to create a longterm upland diversion
ditch to feed into the stock pond from the northwest pit area.
Response - See response to Question #15. Since water is already
directed up-slope from the quarry, no additional ditch will be required.
Any water resulting from rainfall or snow melt that occurs on the slopes
will be handled down the slopes as you suggest with water bars and
terraces.
17. Table I-l, Revegetation Mix, identifies that 0.5 lbs PLS of "Rimcon"
four wing salt brush winterfat will be planted. Please clarify if both
four wing salt brush and winterfat will be planted or only one of the
tM~O.
Response - WAI proposes to plant .5 lbs PLS of Rimcon four wing
saltbrush.
18. Please provide a reclamation plan and associated costs for the plant
site, if it will be incorporated into the permit as affected land.
Res onse - See response to Question 4a and b.
19. A copy of the application was transmitted...
Response - None required.
Exhibit L - Reclamation Costs
20. Exhibit E, Reclamation Plan, states that the quarry disturbance measures
approximately 30 acres. However, reclamation costs are proposed for 20
acres. Please clarify.
Response - The correct area, based on recalculations, is 33 acres.
Coasts for reclaiming this area are included in the attached.
21. Please include cost of:
a. Ripping the quarry slopes and floors;
Response: We feel ripping will not be required as discussed previously
in our response [o question #12.
b. Placing one foot of gravel atop ripped slopes and floor;
Re:~ponse - We feel placement of gravel atop the quarry floor and slopes
to be unnecessary, and in fact, detrimental to slope stability.
