West Elk Mine
Spring Monitoring
Turin nantiiv

In 1977, MCC began a spring water monitoring program that incorporated monthly, quarterly and
semi-annual monitoring of flow and/or water quality. Map 37 shows the springs identified within
the coal lease area and the locations of the decreed springs. Map 34 and Table 9 show the springs
that are included in the monitoring program. The most recent Annual Hydrology Report provides a
graphic representation of the flow data available for the springs monitored from 1984 to date.
Table 11
B line Cheml I Anal es
S rin s/Surf ce W erg
H lab and field' Sodi m Na
Con udivi 25° lab and field Sulf to SO .
Tem ratur field' Alumin m AI
Total Dissolved Solids' Arsenic (As) (Total Recoverable)
T I Sus nded lids' C d ium Cd
Sod'u Adsor i n atio S R Co er Cu
Bicarbonat HCO Ir n Fe' tala Dissoly
Cal ium Ca'2 Lea P
Chl ride CI Man nese Mn' o al and Di olved
r nes s Meru H o al Rec verabl
Maneim M`Z MlbdenmMo
Nitr -Nitri I nium Se I Re v rable
P shat PO '~ a P Zinc Zn
Po sium B r n B

Gr ndwat r'
H lab nd field' Nitr to-Nitri e
du ivi at 2 ° lab a field ' Pho hate PO ~ a P
Tem eratur field' Pot sium
T I Diss ved Sol' s' Tur idi '
Sodi m Ad lion Ratio SAR So i m Na
Bi rb nat H O Sulfate SO
alcium C `s Ar nic A
Ca nate O Ca mium d
Ch ride CI Iro Fe' otal an Diss Ived
Hardn s Man anese Mn' o I and dissoly
Ma nesi M `s Lad P
A monia H M rcu H
Sel nium Zin Zn
Boron B
Notes:
1.
