<br />DIVISION 1-GENERAL REQUIREMENTS <br />SECTION 01300 -SUBMITTALS <br />1.01 GENERAL <br />A. Contractor shall fumish, process, deliver, reproduce and perform other necessary functions <br />incidental to scheduling and handling of shop drawings, project data and samples, operation and <br />maintenance manuals, equipment record sheet, manufacturer's certificate of proper installation, <br />and record drawings, as indicated on Drawings or as specified, and in accordance with provisions <br />of the Contract Documents. <br />B. See appropriate Specifications and Contract Document sections for specific items for which data <br />and/or samples are required. See General Conditions for additional information. <br />C. Review or acceptance of substitutions, schedules, shop drawings, lists of materials, and <br />procedures submitted or requested by the Contractor, and all additional costs which may result <br />therefrom shall be solely the obligation of the Contractor. It shall not be the responsibility of the <br />Engineer to provide engineering or other services to protect the Contractor from additional casts <br />accruing from such review or acceptance. <br />D. No equipment or material for which listings, drawings, or descriptive material is required shall be <br />installed until the Engineer has on hand copies of such accepted lists and the appropriately <br />stamped final shop drawings. <br />E. The review of drawings by the Engineer will be limited to general design requirements only, and <br />shall in no way relieve the Contractor from responsibility for errors or omissions contained <br />therein. <br />F. Submittals will be acted upon by the Engineer as promptly as possible. <br />1.02 BACKFILL MATERIAL <br />A. Contractor shall furnish a sample of the soil mixture he anticipates utilizing as backfill material <br />from a borrow source with proven capacity to backfill the entire trench. This soil sample will be <br />subjected to permeability testing after being mixed with bentonite from the Contractor's supplier. <br />This testing will determine the percent of dry bentonite that will be mixed into the soil-bentonite <br />backfill in order to achieve a permeability of I x 10' or less. Gradation and Atterberg Limits tests <br />will be performed to establish control on the backfill throughout the project. <br />B.
