We are adamantly opposed bo the construction and operation ofthis orany other mmurg facility <br />of Ibis type inthis area. We have had direct experience with die impadsassociated wiffi9re op~atioa of <br />the Albert Frei & Sons Quarry on US 5 in Clear Creek Canyon. Norte of the regulations associated with <br />the operation of thisfaciliiy have been ertfotced by the State of Colorado, setting a verypoor example of <br />rock mining itt this sensitive region. As such, v+e request t§at DMG delay a decision to issue a mining <br />permit umtil the following issues, at a minimum, are fullytonsidered and adtkessed. <br />With respect to the quarry application vve have the following specific comments: <br />Page 10 8Ta5tiidgPnvicetInres <br />Both p[rvate and public stntcbires most be protected from the impacts ofblasting and,zock movement. <br />The most stringeaf OSM, US Bareau ofMines, or other rolevant gtnund vibration standards must be <br />adhered to. A plan must be developed that includes monitoring and reliorting to ensure the protection of <br />all structures within the DMRA area. CompTianoe with these standards must be documented through a <br />detailed monitoring system to be installed on DouglasMoumain Drive and in DMRA areas above the <br />rprarry, following reviewandapproval by DMRA. Mrnuitoring results wr71 be.provided in DMRA, with <br />iaterpreFation, oa a mont}tly basis.
