• SOILS ALONG THE PROPOSED HAUL ROAD
Plate 13 shows the soils along the proposed haul road
Prom Jackson County 1° to the Bourg property. They involve
two additional soils which can be described as follows:
Bosler sandy loam.- (mao symbol: 12-AC).- Moderately
deep (20 to 40 inches) over lime-cemented gravel and cobble,
moderately coarse textured soils with a sandy loam surface
and sandy clay loam subsoil. They have a low eater holding
capacity of approximately 3.5 inches available eater within
the 3-foot rooting depth, The soil has a low organic matter
content. Slopes range from 2 to 5 percent. These soils occur
in valley bench range sites.
S~icerton sandy loam,- (map symbol: 20-AC),- Deep (greater
than 40 inches over any restricted material), strongly alkaline,
moderately fine textured soil with a thin, Pine sandy loam surface
and a clay subsoil. It has a low available eater holding capa-
+ city of approximately 3 inches within a 5-foot rooting depth,
due to the sodium content which restricts plant growth and ties
up much of the normally available eater. Soils have a fluc:uatir,c
water table and normally receive some "run-in", Slopes range from
0 to 5 percent. These soils occur in salt flats range sites.

M-7
