However, a minor effect is expected
upon the surface water system.
Hart Rok Redi Mixt has a well located near the southeast
end of the pit near the valley bottom. This is adjudicated
for domestic uses at the office and plant site. The well is
approximately 48 feet deep, which is deeper than the expected
bottom of the pit. There are no other wells in the vicinity.
Makeup water for the ready mix plant comes from an adju-
dicated spring approximately 2 miles south of the plant site
located on Bureau of Land Management land. The spring water
is piped to the plant and passes into a series of storage
tanks. Overflow from the last storage tank is into two small
ponds located near the plant office.
The valley containing the pit is dry or nearly dry for
most of the year. The operator has improved a previously exist-
ing low impoundment dike on the upstream side of the quarry
across the stream valley with a culvert overflow. The impound-
ment dike is used as a dumping area for clean-out of th~concrete\
trucks. The clean-out material generally sets up as a lea~r
concrete and serves to stabilize the dike.
For most of the year, there is seldom enough water to
overflow the dike. SeaSOnal rains or snow melt occasionally
G-1
