outlines of the first pit. A complete pass of the second
' bench is anticipated, followed by a third bench still within
the outlines of the original pit.
At the conclusion of excavating the first pit, the pit
size will be approximately 10 acres.
Total remaining reserve in the present pit is approxi-
' mately 170,000 tons of sand and gravel. At an anticipated
production rate of 10,000 to 20,000 tons per year, the present
' reserve is good for 8-10 years. The entire pit will at all
times be an active area and no reclamation is anticipated
' or possible until the pit is depleted and the operation at
' the quarry shut down.
As mentioned, the pit area is considered affected lands.
' The access road to the pit area is not considered as mining-
affected land for purposes of this permit since it existed
' prior to 1972. This access road will continue to be used
after depletion of the present pit.
Regrading of the pit area will consist of knocking down
' the pit walls to approximately. 2~1 and smoothing and con-
l
touring the sides and bottom, re-establishing the intermit-
, tent stream channel. Retopsoiling and planting will take
' place as discussed elsewhere in this application.
The operator has improved a small flood control imoound-
ment dike across the valley at the south end of the pit area.
This dike is discussed in Exhibit G - Water Information.
v-2
I
