AND CONCRETE PRODUCTION BY UNITED COMPANIES OF
MESA COUNTY, INC.
Dear Mr. Dilly,
The Board of County Commissioners is writing to you in
regards to a letter we received from the Citizens to
Preserve Scenic 550 South. We are currently in the. process
of trying to adopt an amendment to our agricultural zoning
procedures that would require a special use permit before
anything may be established not directly related to
agricultural use. We have had two public hearings so far,
and have received many favorable comments from citizens
concerned is protecting their lands from particular zoning
uses especially those which would scar the land.
Montrose County and the surrounding area is a beautiful
place to live. The letter we received from the citizens
group stresses how concerned they are in protecting their
caviron~ent aoa and for future generations, T•is±ed belC+w are
some of their concerns if IInited Companies of Mesa County is
allowed to operate in this vicinity:
A. Loss of Scenic value
B. Diminished Property values
C. Health Zssues
D. Environmental issues
E. Traffic congestion
F. The Now Proposed County Zoaing
The people living in the Uncompahgre valley came to this
area and chose to live there because of. the beauty, clean
air, and blue skies. it is this same natural beauty that
attracts thousands of tourists to Montrose and Ouray
Counties every year.
