r, <br />u <br />CUSH;dAN SERIES <br />'Taxonomic Classification: Fine-loamy, mixed (calcareous), masic family of <br />Ustollic Haplargids. <br />Setting: Cushman soils are on small upland alluvial fans. They have formed <br />in loamy, calcareous alluvium derived from local Formations. Slopes are 3 to <br />10 percent. <br />General Characteristics: Cushman soils ara well-drained with moderate <br />permeability and medium runoff. Vegetation is primarily big sagebrush and mixed <br />perennial grasses with areas of cheatgrass. <br />Range in Characteristics: Textures are silt loam to silty clay loam with 16 <br />to 30 percent clay and less than 35 percent fine sand or coarser. Coarse fragment <br />• content is 0 to 10 percent with accumulations of visible secondary calcium <br />carbonate below about 20 inches. Reaction is mildly to .noderately alkaline with <br />alkalinity increasing with depth. Depth to bedrock is 20 to 40 inches. <br />Type Location: 600 feet west, 1100 feat north of the southeast corner of <br />Section 4, f3N, R101W. Pit number 3, additional pit number 21. <br />C~ <br />
