COLORO'rf SERIES
Iaxono-nic Classification: Coarse-loamy, mixed (calcareous),~nzsic family of
Typic Torrifluvents.
Setting: Colorow soils era on floodplains and along drainages. Thzy have for.nad
in mixed, calcareous, stratified alluvium primarily dzrived from sandstone. Slopes
are 0 to 3 percent.
General Characteristics: Colorow soils are well-drained with moderately rapid
permeability and mzdium to slow runoff. Vegetation is primarily big sagebrush,
rabbitbrush and mixed perznnial grasses.
Range in Characteristics: fixtures are loam to sandy loam with 10 to td percent
clay. Coarse fragment content is 0 to 20 percent with accumulations of visible
. secondary calcium carbonate below about 3 feat. Reaction is moderately alkaline
with alkalinity fairly constant with depth. Depth to bedrock is greatzr than
60 inches.
