<br />125 - Pinelli clay loam, 2 to b percent slopes. <br />fhe Pinelli soil is deep, fins-textured, and wall-drained. It developed <br />from calcareous montmorillonitic claystona and shah. S;nall areas of Forelle <br />soils were included in mapping. Forelle soils are .nore loamy. These soils occupy <br />less than 10 percent of the mapping unit. <br />In a typical profile, the surface layer is pale brown clay loam about b <br />inches thick. The subsoil is light brownish gray to light gray calcareous clay <br />to silty clay about 22 inches thick. The substratum is light gray calcareous <br />clayey alluvium at least 12 inches thick. <br />The Pinelli soil has slow permeability and rapid runoff. The erosion hazard <br />is high Yrom water. Available water holding capacity is moderate to low. Effectiva <br />rooting depth is greater than 40 inches. <br />• This soil is used for livestock grazing and wildlife habitat. Tha vegetation <br />is primarily western wheatgrass, cheatgrass and saltbush with a few scattered <br />big sagebrush along small drainages. <br />The average depth of suitable topsoil material is G inches. 'this material <br />is rated fair to good with suitability decreasing with depth. <br />• <br />
