110 - Turley Variant, disturbed, 0 to 3 percent slopes.
fhe Turley Variant, disturbed soil is deep, calcareous, and well-drained.
It developed from Purley Variant soils in arras of extensive prairie dog or
livestock use. Small areas of Purley Variant and Potts soils were included in
mapping. Turley Variant soils are lass disturbed with a batter vegetative cover.
Potts soils are deep, :note developed and with more vegetation. These soils occupy
less than 15 percent of the mapping unit.
In a typical profile, the surface layer is pale brown calcareous silt loam
about 5 inches thick which is freshly disturb ad exposing parent material. The
remainder of the profile is similar to the entire sequence of Turley Variant
soils when prairie dog activity has deposited deep material on the surface; or
have been truncated by erosion to substrata wean livestock have heavily used
• thz area.
The Turley, disturbed soil has moderate to moderately slow permeability
and medium to rapid runoff. The erosion hazard is moderate to high from wind
and water. Available waterholding capacity is ;noderate. Effective rooting depth
is 40 to 60 inches.
"This soil is used for livestock grazing and wildlife habitat. 'Tne vegetation
is primarily scattered saltbush, cheatgrass and annual fortis with large areas
of bare ground.
Tha average depth of suitable topsoil material is 50 inches. This material
is rated fair to good with suitability decreasing with depth.
•
