Waste areas 3 and 4 and hole 9A (areas 7, 8, and 9) have SAR values in a stratum
or strata which are greater than 10. Area 4 has one strata in which the SAR is
marginally unsuitable. Area 6 has a value of 12.0 in the topsoil portion with
suitable values below two feet. Area 3 is marginally suitnhle throuF;h with SAR
vaues ranging from 10.5 to 11.1. Hole yA has marginally suitable to unsuitable
SAR values to a depth of 17 feet.
Electrical Conductivity
Waste area 1 and hole R9A have marginally suitable values for electrical
conductivity (EC). High values (greater than 16 mmhos/cm) indicate high total
salt content which is deleterious to plant growth. Seed germination is sensitive
• to EC values greater than about 8 mmhos/cm. Area 1 has EC values of about 12
to 13 mmhos/cm from 7 to 17 feet. Hole R9A has EC values of about 14 mmhos/cm
at the same depth range.
Selenium
Selenium values appear to be high (grouter than 2.0~1r~) in all ;areas at various
depths. Selenium values approach but do not exceed 5 ppm in both surface and
subsurface samples. However, vegetation does not appear affected by selenium
concentrations as evidenced by either species distribution or productivity. High
densities or frequencies of selenium indicator species were not observed. No
•
II.I-23
Revised 4/81
