u <br />5. 74ETHODS <br />A field investigation was implemented during the Bumper and fall of 1980. Soil <br />serles phas?s, phases of series variants, co~nplexas and associations were used <br />as basic mapping units. <br />This soil survey conforms to the general standards of the National Cooperative <br />Soil Survey as outlined in USDA Handbooks 435, 18 and 50. This survey also <br />conforms to the recommended procedures and suitability evaluations of Wyoming <br />Department of Environmental duality, Land duality Division (WDEa-LSD) Guideline <br />No. 1 (EJH 6 JKW/:March 1980/Revised) contained in Illustration E. <br />a. EXISTING SURVEYS <br />An existing soil survey of the par:nit area was utilized. The soils were previously <br />mapped at the Order 3 level by the Soil Conservation Service and checked by 'T. <br />A. Colbert and Associates. This survey was included in previous permit application <br />submittals. 'The map unit boundaries ware used for unaffected portions of the <br />permit area. Ths units have bean field-checked with a few resultant changes in <br />soil series Haines, .map unit composition and symbols. However, the basic <br />composition of soil types for these areas were changed only slightly to <br />incorporate into this survey. 'Tne Soil Conservation Service (SCS) is in the <br />process of publishing a survey encompassing the permit area, flapping Units 120, <br />• <br />II.I-6 <br />
