<br />SATANKA SERIES <br />Taxonomic Classification: Fine-loamy, mixed (calcareous), family of Borollic <br />Haplargids. <br />Setting: Satanka soils are on small upland fans. They have formed in loamy, <br />calcareous alluvium with relatively high proportions of coarser sands. Slopes <br />are 3 to 10 percent. <br />General Characteristics: Satanka soils are well-drained with moderate <br />permeability and medium runoff. Vegetation is primarily big sagebrush and mixed <br />perennial grasses with areas of cheatgrass. <br />e in Characteristics: Textures are predominantly Loam with 15 to 25 percent <br />clay and more than 35 percent fine sand or coarser. Coarse fragment content is <br />• 0 to 15 percent with accumulations of visible secondary calcium carbonate below <br />td to 24 inches. Reaction is neutral to moderately alkaline with alkalinity <br />increasing with depth. Depth to bedrock is 20 to 40 inches. <br />Type Location: 1100 feet west, 3300 feat north of the SE/4 corner of Section <br />27, T2N, R101A. Pit number 5. <br />• <br />
