enhance soil moisture conditions. A detailed description of the
cultural practices employed in the reclamation process is presented
under Section 780 of Permit C-81-071 for Mines 1, 2, and Eckman
Park.
The cumulative number of disturbed acres still under CYCC liability
is approximately 3,100 with a total permitted area of approximately
7,150 acres. With the acreages associated with the transfer of
liabilities to TCC for the surface facilities, there are less than
5 acres left to reclaim under CYCC liability, these areas being
associated with" the dragline dismantling pads. There are three
large areas which have been released from bond, two of these being
located on Mine 2, the other being located at Mine 1. These areas
are heavily vegetated, and have been included for reference only.
- Twentymile Coal Company.
TCC mines federal and private coal in Routt County, Colorado
utilizing a retreating longwall system. As such, surface
disturbances have been limited to surface support facilites
consisting of small acreages. Currently, TCC is responsible for the
disturbances consisting of the Fish Creek Borehole, Sandstones
Substation, Fish Creek Tipple, Rockdust Tank, and Surface
Facilities. The surface facilities are located in and on old spoils
produced by the CYCC Mine 1 operation during the 1970's, with the
portals driven into the old low wall remnant. In addition, the
newer tipple facilities, haulroads, rail spur, explosive bunkers,
and coal stockpile in the area of Pinnacle Peak have been
transferred to TCC. Current disturbed area acreage within TCC
liability is approximately 340 acres, with a total permitted
acreage of approximately 14,600 acres. Given that the current
disturbance is limited to those areas necessary for operation of
the mine, TCC does not anticipate any large scale reclamation or
large additional disturbance to occur in the near future.
Page 2
