Shelton <br />Director <br />RE: Andesite Rock Company, File ~k77-141 <br />Dear Mr. Baker: <br />I have received this application and have the following questions, ~ =I <br />comments and suggestions which must be addressed in detail prior to <br />the October 28-29, 1981, meeting of the t3ined Land Reclamation Board. <br />A. Exhibit E - Reclamation Plan <br />1. Please describe the attitude and density of the predominant <br />joint structures that are found in the bedrock being mined. _ <br />2. Please describe in detail all proposed bencl~inr„ including the <br />slope and width of benches and the vertical distance between - <br />benches. A cross section of tl~e proposed final quarry high <br />wall would be helpful. _ <br />3.' What other techniques coill be utilized to insure that the <br />resultant vertical rock face will be left i.n a stable condition? <br />4. After 12" of topsoil is placed over the affected areas, the <br />operator should not compact the soil to 90% relative density. <br />Prior to seeding, the operator should harronr the site to prepare <br />a .proper seedbed. <br />5. Is the operator planning to irr.if;ate the seeded areas, as.rec- <br />ommended by the Soil Conservation Service? <br />6. In order to improve Clie si.Ce adjacent.to St. Vrain Creek for <br />wildlife, the staff recommends that a variety of the followin, <br />tree and shrub seedlings be randomly planted: <br />cottonwood <br />American P].um <br />golden current <br />chockecherry <br />Mountain Mahogany <br />The seedlings could be obtained from the Colorado State Forest <br />Service Nursery in Fort Collins. <br /> <br />
