Westside Gravel
Division Of Minerals & Geology
Construction Material 112 Permit Application
EXHIBIT D
Mining Plnn
Westside Gravel proposes the mining of sand and gravel in a phased operotion. In
each phase between ten and fifteen acres will be disturbed at arty given time.
Please refer to the necompnrrying pre mining plan map (Exhibit C) for layout
information. Phase I will be our initial set-up point. In accordance with nn
agreement with Ln Plata County Road ~ Bridge Department, Westside gravel will
mine and place pit run material on the county rood accessing the property.
Material from phase 1 will be mined and hauled io cori~ply wish this a;~r~een~~er~t.
This will create a "bench" approximately 12' below naturktl ground. This bench urea
will be the location of the initial crusher set up. The remainder of this phase will
be crushed and stockpiled on this bench. P•ll minirw will be clone with dcjiers and
loaders and/or hoes. No explosives will be used on this site. linuling will be by
trucks.
Mining in all phases on the carryon rim will be from 12 to 50 feel deep. All siope<
will be left with slopos for flatter than 3:1 where passible. Mining from the canyon
face will be completed with the final configur*ntion leaving 3:1 or flutter slopes
from the canyon floor to the rim above. Reclamation will follow behind the raining
operation as closely as is practical.
During the first year of operation it is estia-mted that approxirr~iely 6(KP tuns of
material will he processed and transported per day. It is anticipated that each
phase identified on the pre mining map will take from three to five years to
complete.
Initial observations ir;dicate a minimal nrnount of overburden, most areas having
less than 10" of overburden/topsoil. Overburden/topsoil will be stripped and
stockpiled during the mining operation for each of the phases. the overburden wilt
be replaced after mining opernPions as shown in the reclamation plan and map.
Sand and gravel will be mined and pror-~sced for use- as r•ond base, concre_te_
aggregates, and/or hot asphalt aggregates. Reject material from the crusher
operation will be stockpiled and used to flatted slopes during reclamation.
