was difficult to measure precise depths. It was also apparent during drill-
. ing that much of the compressed air used was lost to the gravel and there-
fore the production rates noted in the log are not representative of aquifer
capabilities.
PUMP TESTING
A 3 hp submersible pump, the largest pump available for this hole size, was
installed on May 22 by Ron Samuelson Pump Company. The hole was pumped at
the maximum possible rate of 64 gpm. The drawdown cone was observed to
reach nearly-stable conditions within 2 minutes, Total drawdown after 2
flours of pumping was 0.7 feet, as shown in Exhibit 3. A Jacobs straight-
11ne plot yields a transmissivity of 51,200 gpd/ft.
Storativity cannot be calculated directly from the aquifer test as performed.
Due to the uniformity of shape and size (2 - 4 inches) of the aquifer material,
however. a reasonable estimate of storativity may be made. This estimated
value is 0.3. which is near the upper limit for alluvial aquifers.
• A water sample, collected at the conclusion of tke test, yielded the follow-
ing values:
Temperature 12° C
pH 6.0 - 6.5
Conductivity 450 umhos @ 12o C
