No appreciable movement
was detected; therefore, monitoring was suspended. Final monitoring results were submitted to CDMG
on July 21, 1994 in MR No. 31. Monitoring pins will remain in place for future reference.
Maintenance. Haul roads are inspected on a daily work basis. If, upon inspection, it is determined that
repairs are needed, appropriate repairs such as, but not limited to, blading, filling of potholes,
replacement of the road surfaces, revegetation of side slopes and watering for dust control, will be
conducted as necessary.
Retention. SCC proposes to leave some of the existing haul roads as permanent access roads in the
permit area (approximately 6.7 milesl~ The proposed permanent sections of haul roads (shown on
Exhibits 20-2 and 20-2A1 include:
• Haul Road G -begins at County Road 53 and proceeds southeast to the beginning of Ridgeline
access road. 11.5 mi.l
• Mine Entrance Haul Road -begins at County Road 53 and proceeds generally southeast to the
beginning of Haul Road A. 11.6 mi.) •
• Haul Road A -begins at the south end of the Mine Entrance Haul Road and proceeds generally
to the southeast to the west end of Haul Road H. 11.5 mi.)
• Haul Road J -intersects with the Ridgeline Access Road and proceeds southward to join with
Haul Road K via a short section of a connector access road. 11.5 mi.)
• Haul Road K -continues southward from the connector access road (0.6 mi.l
SCC is requesting approval for retention of these haul roads as postmining structures. Copies of the
written requests from the landowners are presented in TAB 3, Adjudication File, Appendix 3-7,
Landowner Requests for Permanent Roads.
These roads will increase the utilization of the reclaimed and surrounding areas. When a haul road is no
longer needed for operations, Peabody proposes the following:
a. The top road surface will be narrowed to 20 teet
b. The road surfacing material from the narrowing of the section will be placed on the remaining
road width
c. Slopes flatter than 3H:1V will be retopsoiled
d. All areas redisturbed by road narrowing activities will be reseeded to the edge of road surface.
•
TR-50 27a Revised 71104
