• -4- •
at the elevation of the existing PAD (8 , 300 ft marked with an
X, Red Area, Map 2) and removing the rock in a northeasterly
direction. (Correction from Southeasterly direction , page 6
of Permit Submittal . ) Each blast will lossen and pulverize
the rock face into aggregate ranging in size from sand to
6" in diameter . All blasted rock will be removed to Canon City
using a CAT 930 wheel loader and 10-wheel dump . Mining will
continue to proceed in this way until the rock has been
removed (peak elevation, 8 , 350 ft ; rock pad elevation , 8 , 300 ft . ) .
The final quarry configuration will be a flat rock pad (elevation
8 , 300 ft . ) with a single high wall of approximately 50" in
height , which will be located at the southern border of the Red.
Area (Map 2) . It is anticipated that there will be a shortage
of topsoil so that the entire rock pad could not be covered
to a depth of 8 to 10 inches of topsoil . Therefore , only
selected areas of the rock pad will be topsoiled to a depth of
8-10 inches with the remaining area left as exposed rock.
DRAINAGE DIVERSIONS (Exhibit D , No . 1)
All drainage diversions developed in conjunction with
the mining operation would follow the waterbreak construction
standards established in the Bureau of Land Management Brochure
entitled Oil and Gas Surface Operating Standards (Figure 2)
and Culvert Designs outlined under Sediment Control (Exhibit
B and C , No. 6 , Exhibit D, No . 2) .
