Section 810.2 (h) Continued.
• No fragile or historic lands exist in the area where Energy Fuels
plans surface coal mining operations. Disposal of spoil is discussed in Section 780.35 and
Sections 816.71 through 816.74.
(j) Striking a balance between protection of the environment and
agricultural productivity and the Nation's need for coal as an essential
source of energy.
Energy Fuels realizes the importance of a balance between produc-
tion of the environment and agricultural productivity and the
Nation's need for coal as an essential source of energy.
On its approximately 16,000 acres which encompass the mine plan
area, Energy Fuels conducts extensive ranching and farming opera-
lions. The ranching operation has forage to sustain approximately
3,000 head of cattle during May through November, while the farming
operation consists of about 2,750 acres, S00 acres of which are
hayland. The hay is harvested to provide forage and feed during
the winter months for domestic livestock and wildlife.
In addition, Energy Fuels recognizes that coal is the Nation's key
for attaining energy independence.
