III IIIIIIIIIIIIIIII <br />PART 810 - PERMANENT PROGRAM PE?.FORMANCE STANDARDS - 999 <br />I~ GENERAL PROVISIONS Doc Date:12/11I2001 <br />Scope of the Section. <br />Part 810 establishes the minimum performance standards and design <br />requirements to be adopted and implemented for goal exploration and <br />surface coal mining and reclamation operations. <br />Section 810.2 Objective. <br />The objective of this Subchapter is to ensure that coal exploration and <br />surface coal mining and reclamation operations are conducted in manners <br />which are compatible with the environmental, social, and esthetic needs <br />of the Nation. Accordingly, the performance standards and design <br />requirements in this Subchapter will provide for-- <br />(a) Protection of the health, safety, and general welfare of mine <br />workers and the public; <br />• Energy Fuels has always recognized that the health, safety, and <br />general welfare of its mine workers and the public is of paramount <br />importance. Accident prevention and efficient production are in- <br />separable. It is the desire of Energy Fuels to provide all its <br />employees with a safe and healthful environment in which to work. <br />Energy Fuels maintains a Safety, Health, Education and Training <br />Department at the mine site. This Department provides the <br />direction, training, education and enforcement that are necessary <br />to comply fully with the state and federal safety laws. The staff <br />of this Department consists of the Department Manager and four <br />safety engineers. A copy of Energy Fuels' safety policy and <br />regulations for all surface miners is found in Exhibit 16, Safety <br />Policy and Regulations for Surface Plines; all employees, as a <br />condition of employment at Energy Fuels, are required to study and <br />obey all safety rules. <br />810-1 <br />
