TWIN PINES NO. 2 MINE
REVISED 11/30/94
FILE WP51\LGW\TPRECLM
PAGE NO. 90
• The seed mixture will be applied by hand broadcast methods at a
rate of 30 lbs/acre on slopes and drilled on level areas at a rate
of 151bs./acre. Straw mulch will be utilized to protect seed beds
and retain moisture. Four thousand pounds of straw per acre will be
blown on the seed bed. The straw will be crimped using the grousers
of a dozer. Erosion control blankets may be utilized on some
reclaimed slopes. Seeding will done in late spring or early fall to
achieve the best results.
In accordance with Stipulation No. 6 a minimum ground cover of
living plants will be established which will produce approximately
200 pounds of air dry herbage per year. The estimated production is
based on a 90$ growth with a 90$ confidence level, with clippings
taken by the Soil Conservation Service as a bases for calculations
(see section 2.04.10 of the application). If in fact weed
infestation becomes a problem, Twin Pines will consult with the
Division and submit a schedule and plan in a minor revision prior
to implementing specific control measures.
RILL AND GULLY PLAN
The reclamation plan and construction of the mine site (Phase I
reclamation) provide for diversion of water above fill slopes for
the major fills on the site. Roughing of slopes with the grosers of
a dozer prior to and after seeding and mulching will lessen the
• effects of slope erosion. Rills and gullies, which may form on the
completed slopes will be filled, regraded, or otherwise stabilized
when such rills and gullies disrupt the postmining land use,
prohibit succcessful revegetation, or contribute to a violation of
water quality standards. Shallow rills will be hand raked and
seeded when evident after a major storm. Gullies greater than 12
inches in depth will be filled with a small track machine then
seeded and mulched. Diversion berms or blocks in diversion pathways
will be repaired to prevent washing over the slope.
i
l J
