Subsidence control measures are designed, to the extent
technologically and economically feasible, to maintain the value and
reasonable foreseeable use of surface lands.
The Southfield mining operations will comply with all applicable
provisions of subsidence control and monitoring plans. Details of these
plans are presented in Section 2.05.6(6), Subsidence Survey, Subsidence
Monitoring, and Subsidence Control Plan.
4.20.2 PUBLIC NOTICE
• All owners of property and residences within the area above underground
workings will be notified by mail at least six (6) months prior to mining
beneath the subject property or residence. The notification will contain
the following:
o Identification of specific areas in which mining will be
conducted
o Dates of mining activities that could cause subsidence and
affect specific structures
o Measures to be taken to prevent or control adverse surface
effects.
4.20.3 SURFACE OWNER PROTECTION
Southfield Mine will comply with all provisions of the subsidence control
plan presented in Section 2.05.6(6). If, in the unlikely event that
. subsidence causes material damage or reduces the value or reasonable
foreseeable use of surface lands, EFCI will restore, rehabilitate, or
remove and replace damaged structures, to provide compensation for lost
value or reduction in potential use, or restore affected lands to a
4.20-1
