since water level fluctuations are the smallest then. The triannual frequency has been previously
approved by the CDMG for SCC's Seneca II and Yoast Mines. This triannual frequency is still
sufficent to determine both seasonal and year-to-year water level fluctuations.
Permit Revision No. 3 Changes
Permit Revision No. 3, which was submitted in 2002, deals with the mining of the Sage Creek
and Wolf Creek coal seams in the II-W South Expansion area. No changes on the Surface Water
portion of Table 1 were made. In the Springs portion of Table 1, Spring 5-49 was deleted since
that spring was mined out in 2001. In addition, Spring S-41, located in the northeast quarter of
Section 22, has been removed from the monitoring program since it no longer exists after mining
in that area in 1998. Also, three spoil springs located in the north and central mining areas have
been added to the monitoring program.
Five new wells have been added to the monitoring program. These wells are WSOV24 (Sage
Creek coal overburden), WSC24 (Sage Creek coall, WWCOV24 (Wolf Creek coal overburdenl,
WWC24 (Wolf Creek coall, and WWCU24 (Wolf Creek coal underburden). The wells were drilled
and completed in August and September of 2001. The five wells will be monitored for water
levels and quality once per calendar quarter until the second quarter of 2002, at which time they
will be monitored per the sequences stated in Table 1.
153a-2 Revised 01102
