(C) Water Diversion and Impoundments.
Groundwater is one of the prime concerns to be dealt with in [his plan. The necessary well permits
and augmentation plans have been prepared by Steve Nguyen of Tuttle-applegate, Inc., who have
been retained by the applicant to prepare the plan and assist in its implementation.. These will be
submitted under separate cover by that firm, to be placed in Exhibit "G" -Water Information. This
will explain the plan in full detail.
(D) Size of the area to be worked at any one time.
As explained in Exhibit "G" -Water Information, only a dewatered 5-acre cell will be worked at any
one time. However, to allow for stripping, stockpiling of overburden and topsoil in preparation for
mining as well as reclamation, a total of fify (50) acres will be bonded and considered as affected
area.
(E) An appropriate timetable to describe the mining operation and the relationship between
mining and reclamation.
Reclamation will consist of topsoiling the buffer zone and backsloping the lake banks as required.
It will follow mining as closely as operationally feasible. This will be fairly simple, as the major
acreage will be the lake floor, which does not require any reclamation treatment.
(i) An estimate of the periods of time which will be required for the various stages or phases
of the operation:
Present projections are to mine one 5-acre cell per year. This will not be a staged or phased
operation, but will be handled on a floating bond basis. Obviously most of the cells will consist of
mining only, since they will be in the lake with no shoreline involved to be reclaimed. If mining is
limited to one 5-acre cell per year, [he proposed 300-acre lake area could last for 60 years to be
completed.
CRS34-321-1 l2(b) (VIII) of the Act states: "A timetable estimating the periods required for the
various stages of the mining operation -the operator shall not be required to meet the timetable, nor
shall the timetable be subject to independent review by the Board of office."
(ii) A description of the size and location of each area to be worked during each phase:
As stated earlier, this will not be a phased operation. Mining will occur in 5-acre cells. A total of
fifty (50) acres will be bonded and considered affected area which will include stripping and
reclamation of other parts of the acreage as mining proceeds.
D-2
