(ii) A description of the size and location of each area to be reclaimed during each phase.
As explained earlier, reclamation will occur on each 5-acre cell along the shoreline as soon as it is
completed. Mining will be followed by reclamation as closely as operationally feasible.
(iii) An outline of the sequence in which each stage or phase of reclamation will be carried out:
a. Topsoil lake banl: and shoreline with a minimum of 4" to 6"
b. Fertilize and straw mulch.
c. Seed with designated seed mix.
(f) A description of each of the following:
(i) Final grading:
The pit floor of shale will be left level at the excavated depth. Lake bank and shoreline will be
treated with the 4" - 6" of topsoil as described.
(ii) Seeding, types, mixtures, quantities and expected time of seeding.
The types, mixtures and quantities of seed to be applied are described in 6.4.5 (2) (d) above. SCS
recommendations and the operator's expertise in this area have shown that late Fall seeding is the
best time to seed, and generally gets the best results.
(iii) Fertilization type, quantity and time of application.
SCS recommendations are for 40#/acre of available N&P. This will be applied shortly before
seeding.
(iv) Revegetation -type of trees, shrubs, etc.
None are proposed at the present time.
(v) Topsoiling -specify anticipated minimum depth or range of depths for those areas which
will be topsoiled.
As stated eazlier, a minimum of 4" - 6" is proposed to be replaced on all areas requiring treatment.
E-6
