• All documented springs issue from unconsolidated
Quaternary deposits of colluvial and alluvial soils. Their
discharge, as estimated during the summer period of 1982,
varied between small, non-measurable quantities to about 0
gpm. CWI mentions several instances of leakage from the old
Pitkin Mesa aqueduct.
All identified springs are shown on Plate 9.
3.4 BUILDINGS AtJD STRUCTURES
An inventory of structures was performed to enable the
evaluation of the impact of subsidence, if any, for each
structure within or immediately adjacent to the proposed
long-term lease area boundary. These structures are
described below; their locations are indicated on Plate 9,
Land 'Jse, Surface Water, Buildings and Structures. No
structures from the Orchard Valley Mine surface facilities
have been included in the inventory since all these
structures lie below the coal outcrop.
Nineteen buildings have been identified and plotted on
Plate 9. These are generally small cabins or sheds which
would not be particularly sensitive to the effects of
• subsidence. However, exceptions are the Muckle house, which
is a restaurant and substantial structure located at Stevens
Gulch, in the N[d quarter of Section 13, and the Morrell's
ranch which is adjacent to the Muckle House.
Power Lines
A 230 kV electric power transmission line parallels
Terror Creek on its west side. This is the Curecanti-Hayden
Power Line, ~ohich is operated by the Department of Energy.
A 7,200 volt underground power line is buried F feet
deep along the CWI pipeline alignment from the Stevens Gulch
pump house and well field to the mine site.
Pipelines
A C6VI water supply pipeline carries water from the CWI
well field in Stevens Gulch to the mine site. This consists
of a 4-inch diameter ductile steel pipe with flange
connections. It is buried 30 inches deep.
•
- 18 -
