The objective of this class is to partially retain the existing character <br />of the landscape. The level of change to the characteristic landscape should be minimal. <br />All facilities and equipment will be portable, and removed during the +vildlife closures or <br />when mining will not be occurring for 60 days at a time. <br />Signature of specialist: Loren Wickstrom <br />WILDLIFE, AQUATIC <br />Affected Environment: There is no aquatic em~n'onment within the proposed action area. <br />Signature of specialist: Loren Wickstrom <br />WILDLIFE, TERRESTRIAL <br />Affected Environment: The general habitat of the permit area is dominated by sagebrush <br />and a fe+v scattered pinyon/juniper trees. Wildlife, bird, and reptile species found in thr <br />area are common to S W Colorado. Species of special emphasis in and around the project <br />area include, Gunnison Sage grouse. Bald Eagles, mule deer, and elk. 'fhe Sage Cnousz <br />are considered a BLM sensitive species because of the declining populations and Bald <br />Eagles are considered and Endangered Species, Both are described further under the <br />Threatened and Endangered Species section of this document. The San Juan/San Mi~~uel <br />RMP designated the area as "Deer and Elk Winter Range", therefore, this area is closed to <br />all tttining operations between December 1 -April 15'h. <br />Signature of specialist: Loren Wickstrom ]0-30-00 <br />
