Spoil Water Quality
1. Three wells are referenced on page 1 of the report. Water
level and water. quality data from SP-1 and SP-2 are given in
Appendix III of this report. The SP-3 well has been dry since
construction. Completion information for all three wells are
also given in Appendix III.
2. The impacts of elevated levels of certain chemical parameters
in spoil discharges is discussed in more detail in the final
backfill report. However not all parameters have been evaluated
due to the analytical procedures used in determining concentra-
tions after various parameters, i.e. comparing dissolved and
total recoverable concentrations.
3. The problem of stream standards being set lower than the
detection levels of laboratory procedures for certain parameters
has been discussed with the Colorado Department of Health (CDOH)
on several occasions. We have attached a letter from ACZ
Bookcliffs laboratories concerning this issue in Appendix IV.
u
4. Accepted methods of sample collection and preservation •
were followed in the collection of water quality data. All
samples taken for dissolved constituents were filtered.
5. An explanation of the spoil discharge projections is given
in the response to comment 4 in the Spoil Aquifer Characteristics
section.
6. The suggested formatting changes have been included in
the final report.
7. Salt loading calculations have been performed for the low
flow irrigation period and are discussed in the final report.
•
