` In 1987, the two underground fuel storage tanks located by the office (Map M13) were replaced by one
15,000-gallon above-ground gasoline tank. The old tanks were removed and disposed of. In 1990, all
remaining underground storage tanks were replaced with aboveground tanks.
The aboveground tanks are not scheduled to be removed until the coal reserves are exhausted. Addi-
tional fuel tanks may be installed if fuel supply conditions warrant.
Exolosives Storage Areas:
Explosive storage areas wnsisl of four ammonium nitrate silos and five explosives magazines. The
silos are built of steel and were constructed approximately March 1978, April 1979, August 1985, and
spring of 1990 (see MR-96). The anfo silo located along D pit haulroad ramp #2 was relocated to a loca-
tion in north E pit in 1991-92 (see MR-114). The four small magazines are steel with wood lining and
were installed approximately March, 1977. The fifth magazine is also steel with a wood lining and is
mounted on asemi-trailer chassis. It was installed in late 1990. All detonators are stored in the north-
ern-most small magazine. All bagged slung products are contained in the large semi-trailer magazine
with overflow stored in one of the smaller magazines when necessary. Boosters and Det-cord are stored
in the remaining small magazines. The 8x50 packaged emulsions are stored in semi-trailers near the
magazine in a fenced and locked enclosure. In 1988, a 30-ft x 36-ft truck storage shed was constructed
within the explosives magazine storage area to provide a protective parking area for the Anfo trucks. In
1990, a 10,000-gallon above-ground tank was installed at the Colt pit anfo silo to store bulk emulsion
(see MR-108). During the 1993-1997 permit term, the #4 anfo silo located north of the A pit haulroad
between West and Middle Pyeatt drainages and the 10,000-gallon aboveground blast emulsion storage
tank currently located in Golt pit will be moved to an easterly location as yet specified.
In 1995, the anfo silo located in North Enfield Pit and the silo located at North Ashmore Pit were
relocated to the haulroad, just south of the shop/office area (MR-140).
These structures are not scheduled to 6e removed until the coal reserves are exhausted, although the
field ammonium nitrate silos may be moved as the pits progress. See Facilities maps (M13-A) for loca-
tions of field ammonium nitrate silos.
Parkino and Storaoe Areas:
Trapper Mine currently has parking spaces for approximately 200 employee and visitor vehicles near the
office. These parking areas were surtaced with asphalt approximately September, 1978, and resurfaced
in 1991. Equipment parking near the Shop/Warehouse is serviced by a start-up line with air and electric
outlets built approximately August, 1979. The outside storage yard contains culverts, fencing, gravel,
tires, and other parts and supplies not suitable for storage in the Warehouse. The drainage from the
parking lot flows into No-Name above the #5 Dam and the storage areas drain into the industrial waste
control facilities.

3-183 , .
T !"1 ..^ T .. . .
