Twentymile Coal Company: Fish Creek & Rail Load Out
U.S. Waters Inventorv & Wetland Delineation
• Sample sites represent the typical conditions that prevail within inventory
delineation units. Photographs were taken of representative sample sites and their
respective soil sample cores.
6.0 INVENTORY AND DELINEATION RESULTS
This section contains the results of the Waters of the United States inventory
and wetland delineation. Inventoried waters are presented first, followed by
delineated wetlands. Inventoried waters and delineated wetlands were grouped in
their respective habitat types and vegetation communities, where present. Waters
of the United States include riverine open water and aquatic bed. Delineated
wetlands include riverine-wet meadow and emergent marsh. Waters of the United
States and delineated wetlands identified within the Fish Creek and Rail road Load
Out survey areas, including delineation sample sites are depicted on Map 1. A
summary of inventoried waters and delineated wetland are presented in Table 2.
• 6.1 WATERS OF THE UNITED STATES
Inventoried waters of the United States within the surveyed property include
both riverine open water and aquatic bed. Fish Creek is a perennial stream with
defined bed and bank. The banks of the creek channel slope steeply and provide
limited area for the growth of wet meadow wetlands. The creek is subject to periodic
flooding by storm water runoff and seasonal snowmelt. No aquatic bed is present
and a nominal amount of emergent marsh wetland may be found where scour does
not preclude growth of this vegtation community.
The Rail road Load Out is a perennial creek with open water and aquatic bed
habitat types. Distribution of wetland in this drainage has been affected by past
construction of the channel and an access road. The banks of this drainage channel
are very steep and wet meadow habitat is limited to 2 narrow fringes along the
channel sides; emergent marsh and aquatic bed habitat is confined to the channel
bottom which is not subject to scouring capable of precluding their growth.
U
Habitat Management, Inc. 5 7/20/01
