Page 3
BIT D - WILDLIFE, WATER RESOURCES, VEGETATION AND SOILS
i The Colorado Wildlife Department has been advised
of the proposed mining operation. They have studied the
are+3 and concluded that there will be no significant impact
on the Wildlife (see attached letter).
The mining will be a dry screening operation, and
no water resources will be used. There is no surface water,
streams or ponds on the property. The surrounding land is
relatively flat and there is no major drainage through the
mining area.
The vegetation present is typical of the se~i-
arid. region South of Colorado Springs. The majority of the
vegetation is sparse native grasses with a few Coya Cactus
present. There are no trees or bushes on the property.
Soils information was obtained from the Soil Con-
servation Service (see attached letter). They indicated
there would be no significant problems with erosion or dust
during the mining operation.
EXHIBIT E - RECLAMATION PLAN
As indicated in the Mining Plan (exhibit B), the
area will be worked from north to south. Approximately
four to six inches of topsoil will be removed and stockpiled
for future reclamation use.
The proposed area is a high flattop bluff, which
after mining will be similar in appearance, but lowered by
thirt:y feet. During reclamation, all efforts will be made
to kE:ep the contour of the area looking as natural as possible.
It is estimated that the operation will take approximately
two to three years to complete. After the area is mined,
it will be reclaimed to grassland, following those guidelines
established by the Soil Conservation Service (letter attached)
It has been agreed that the seed mixture suggested by the
Soil Conservation Service be altered as recommended by the
Mined Land Reclamation staff to include Western Wheatgrass
at 3~~/ acre and Russian Wildrye at 2~~/ acre.
EXHIBIT F - PROOF OF LOCAL GOVERNMENTAL APPROVAL
The proposed mining operation is acceptable under
present zoning by obtaining a Special Use Permit, Application
has been made to the E1 Paso County Planning Commission for
the Special Use Permit.
