P-3
Mining in the 5th phase will begin by backfilling over-
burden temporarily stored on the surface, back into the
area mined in phase 4. Next a portion of the topsoil
removed from the south side of phase 5 will be stock-
piled on top of the backfill in an orderly berm, followed
by a berm built from a portion of the overburden on the
south half of the 5th phase. Toward the north boundary a
similar process will be followed, creating two berms of
material. As in phase 4, mining will proceed from east
to west on a face almost 175' wide. When all mining is
completed (presently estimated to be 1995 - 2000) back-
filling and final grading will be completed as set forth
in the Reclamation Plan ( See Exhibit E - 1 ).
Exhibit C - Maps
1) See the Index Map identified as C-1.
2) See the Area Map identified as C-2.
3) See the Plot Sketch Map identified as C-3.
Exhibit D - Wildlife. Water Resources. Vegetation and Soils
1) See Exhibit D-1 for wildlife information.
2) See the original file and new information on Water
Resources in Exhibit D-2.
3) See the original file and new information on Vegeta-
tion and Soils in Exhibit D-2 and D-3.
'Exhibit E - Reclamation Plan
Reclamation will be completed in three general phases.
The first phase will involve backfilling along the granite
walls created in the first three phases of mining. Back-
filling should begin about the time phase 3 is completed
and when major preparation takes place for phase 4. The
overburden removed in the 3rd phase of mining will provide
adequate material (about 35,000 cuyds.) to backfill and
reshape the walls on the north and south sides of the area ~~~
to a 3:1 or flatter grade. A haul road with switch-backs
will need to be maintained up the first three benches i
order to access the floor of the mine in the 4th and 5th
phases of mining. Consequently, topsoiling on [he benches
will be delayed until all regrading is completed as sho•N-n
in Exhibit E-1.
When mining is completed in phase 4, backfilling from
the subsoil storage area on phase 5, will begin. Also,
overburden stored on the south rim of phase 4 will be
distributed in order to establish the finished grade along
the south slope and bottom of the phase 4 area.
