eh
• ESPEY, HUSTON 8 ASSOCIATES, INC.
3.1.4 Water Pollution Facilities
Water pollution facilites have been constructed under CMLRB Permit
No. 79-9. These facilities and design criteria aze presented herein to meet federal
regulations.
The total basin contributing flows to the upstream end of the site is 1.36
squaze miles. The basin is nearly squaze in shape with a width of 6,000 feet and a
length of 6,500 feet. The average slope of the basin is 11 percent. There is also a
basin of 0.09 squaze miles that contributes flow along the mine azea. The slope of
• this azea is 14 percent. (See Exhibits C-7 and C-8).
The average annual precipitation for the site is 19 inches. Because it
was determined that the principal source of run-off at the site would be from storm
events, the 10-, 25- and 100-yeaz, - 24-hour rainstorms were investigated. The run-
off calculation results are tabulated in Table C-14.
Soils in the basin aze of three major types, the Cumulic Cryoborolls,
Torriorthentic Haploboralls, and the Camborthids Argiboralls. Properties of these
soils aze listed in Table C-15.
Flow generated upstream of the disturbed azea has been concentrated by
a berm at the upstream end of the disturbed azea and forced into an open channel
that diverts the flows azound the disturbed azea. This berm is 6 feet high and the
outlet will be the interception channel. It will not be topped by the 100-yeaz event.
It has been rip rapped in steep portions and revegetated as discussed in the
reclamation plan, Chapter M. This interception ditch will form the western

~ 19°~
C -31 a ~~~.
