NhSuureea
Re: Hall Pit, File No. 83-142
Dear Mr. McArdale:
In response to your adequacy letter of September 15, 1983, we have
had a site geologic report prepared. I sent that and several photo-
graphs of the site to you on October 11, 1983; please consider them to
be an "official" portion of this response.
C. Exhibit D - Mining Plan
1. The following table is based on the geologic map prepared by
Marcy Espegren. There is a usable depth of topsoil (avg. depth =
2 ft.) in a portion of Phase 1. Other than that, the top 6" to
12" of other mined areas can be stockpiled for reclamation purposes.
The operator is required by Mesa County to leave a minimum six
foot (6') gravel cap over the underlying shale because of the
future potential residential use. The topsoil/overburden shall be
stockpiled for each phase at an easily accessable spot on the next
phase except for Phase 5, which shall be piled on Phase 4. The
stockpiles will be spread out when the mining operation is com-
pleted on each phase.
Topsoil/Overburden to be stockpiled
r ' . ;` •
Phase 1 0.5 Ac w/ 2' depth 1450 c.y. -' "'
Phase 1 7.5 Ac w/ 6" depth 6035 c.y. w~" ~~~++' /~~'~
Phase 2 1.4 Ac w/ 6" depth 1130 c.y.
Phase 3 3.1 Ac w/ 6" depth 2500 c.y.
Phase 4 4.4 Ac w/ 6" depth 3550 c.y.
Phase 5 2.7 Ac w/ 6" depth 2180 c.y.
3. The topsoil is of l ow organic and high gravel content, and
the terms "topsoil" and " overburden" are used interchangeably.
4. Please refer to soils descriptions and site photographs.
G. Exhibit I - Soils Information
1.
