• Vegetation <br />Again using the Simla office of the NRCS, Exhibit D , for assistance; the common <br />vegetation was identified for the project area. The main vegetation is comprised of <br />Western Wheat Grass (Agropyron sp.), blue gramma (Poa sp.), Green Needlegrass (Stipa <br />sp.). Other grasses include Buffalo Grass, Sand Dropseed and Switchgrass and Big <br />Bluestein. There is a very small number of Cottonwood (Populus angustifolia) along the <br />drainages toward the north end of the project area. Along the far western side, there is an <br />area of dry land sunflower cultivation, the precise species is unknown. <br />2.02.2(2)(d): Period of exploration. <br />This program is intended to be conducted between late October 2004 and mid - December <br />2004 with reclamation completed by January 2005. We are entering a weather dependent <br />timeframe so some latitude may be necessary to complete the program. <br />Reclamation will be as contemporaneous as possible following the logging or coring. <br />2.02.2(2)(e): Right to enter surface lands. <br />As stated earlier, the surface owners of the sections impacted have given their consent <br />(Exhibit Al . The State has been notified of the exploration intent and will give such <br />. consent when the bond is calculated (Exhibit B) . <br />This plan has been submitted to the Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology. Upon <br />the issuance of the permit, KMG would be able to exercise the rights granted by the <br />landowners and lignite owners. <br />2.02.2(2)(f): Environmental practices. <br />All exploration activities will be conducted in accordance with the applicable rules and <br />performance standards of the Division of Minerals & Geology. <br />No road construction or pit construction is anticipated. Water, if necessary for drilling, <br />will be purchased from local landowners and contained within portable water tanks. <br />2.022(2)(g): Methods to be used to conduct coal exploration and reclamation. <br />Drilling, Operations <br />KMG proposes to drill 31 exploration holes which will also be geophysically logged. At <br />29 sites, a core hole will also be drilled for solid core recovery of lignite samples. <br />Additionally, four of the core sites will be full collar to TD core for overburden analysis. <br />• For the pilot holes, the hole will be rotary - drilled using a nominal 5 to 6 inch bit <br />diameter.
